Prayer for a Peaceful Election

Father, we ask for your guidance today in choosing our next leader. Grant us, Filipino voters, the enlightenment to vote for the men and women who will steer this country to progress that have long eluded us and at the same time transform us into a better community of people; just, socially responsible, morally upright; and committed to progress, through their own examples.  We seek discernment in choosing the people we will put in position of power.  Give us the wisdom to choose wisely with our hearts attuned to the needs of our countrymen, especially the poor, the meek, the oppressed, and the needy.

When everything has been said and done, we pray for a peaceful election, one that will show the rest of the world that while we desire change at this trying period, we can make our democracy work as we accept the will of the electorate and cooperate with the new leadership in making our country great once again.  Finally, we seek a peaceful transition of power from our old leaders to the new set of leaders.

All these we ask through  Christ our Lord, Amen.
